It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Former President Gyorgy Jenei, Professor Emeritus and Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, on February 4, 2024. He served in the NISPAcee Steering Committee in 2007 - 2013, and as the NISPAcee President in 2008 - 2010 and 01/2012 – 05/2012. We are mourning the loss of our friend and professional colleague, who made an incredible contribution to the field of public administration and policy. In all his capacities he was also a constant contributor to NISPAcee’s development and helped achieve the organisation’s international recognition not only in the region, but world-wide.

Professor Jenei, formerly the Head of the Department of Public Policy (formerly: Public Affairs, then Public Policy and Management) Corvinus University, Hungary, leaves behind a legacy of profound scholarship and unwavering dedication to his field. Professor Jenei was a distinguished scholar and a cherished mentor and friend to many. His contributions to the study of Public Administration were vast and his impact was felt not only within Hungary and the NISPAcee region, but across Western Europe and other parts of the world as well.

Professor Jenei was not only a prominent person and irreplaceable professional, but also an open, cheerful, friendly, human personality, always ready to provide help and support. We will keep him in our minds and our hearts and we will always regard it as an honour and privilege to have him within our NISPAcee and PA international community.
