EUPAN 61st Meeting of Directors General

5-6 December 2013, Vilnius, Lithuania

The 61st Meeting of the Directors General responsible for public administration in the European Union and the European Commission was held in Vilnius on 5-6 December 2013 under the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Meeting, as well as other EUPAN (European Union Public Administration Network) activities, were organised and coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania under the leadership of Paulius Skardžius, Director of Public Governance Policy Department.

NISPAcee is invited to participate in EUPAN meetings as an observer. Its Executive Director, Ludmila Gajdosova, represented NISPAcee in the meeting in Vilnius. This contact with EUPAN enables NISPAcee to stay in touch with public administration practice in European Union countries. The EUPAN meetings are always focused on the urgent issues public administration faces during the period of each Presidency. On the other hand, NISPAcee can provide EUPAN members with information on the current state of the theory and research in public administration and policy.

The agenda of the Meeting included the presentation of the results of several relevant studies and projects running within EU countries (see the Agenda of the meeting). The Lithuanian Presidency commissioned an interesting study solely for this Meeting:

SUMMARY - STUDY OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IMPROVEMENT TRENDS IN EUROPE. The results were presented by Dr. Vitalis Nakrošis, Public Policy and Management Institute; Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University, Lithuania.

More information about EUPAN and the meeting can be found on the EUPAN website: http://www.eupan.eu/en/documents/
