In times of limited resources, problems of trust and growing pressures for innovation in service production, there are many reasons to involve citizens more closely in the planning, design and delivery of public services. Among those are for instance the production of services which really meet the needs of the public, a higher degree of customer satisfaction, the inclusion of valuable knowledge to produce more beneficial public services, and more openness, trust and transparency.
The objectives of the seminar are:
• to explore how citizen participation can contribute to delivering better and more efficient public services;
• to present instruments and techniques to meet citizens’ expectations as well as to evaluate customer satisfaction;
• to illustrate by way of good practices how to effectively engage with citizens;
• to learn from European good practices and to exchange experiences among participants coming from all over Europe.
