IMPACT

International Master Programme on the Coordination of Transition

The International Master on the Coordination of Transition IMPACT is a two-year master programme initiated by Corvinus University Budapest (Hungary), the University of Lljubljana (Slovenia) and Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands). The programme focuses on the key challenges in current public administration.

Transnational institutions such as the UN, the EU, the World Bank and the IMF have grown in importance. Systems of governance and public administration have become more complex and less easy to control. Technological progress carries both opportunities and risks. Social and demographic changes have made existing social policies and welfare state arrangements controversial.

The state can be a positive force in addressing these challenges, but when badly managed, it is part of the problem as well. Worse yet, in many countries throughout the world, the state is an instrument of oppression. Corruption and bureaucracy are rife. State planning helped to produce urban ghettos and environmental destruction.

The aim of IMPACT is to train committed people who can work anywhere in the public service, both at the national and international level. The philosophy behind IMPACT is that contemporary administration is about dealing with change and the need to develop smart solutions for new problems and challenges.

Students enrolled in IMPACT will spend at least a year abroad and go to places where they encounter current developments in European societies, emerging problems and innovative solutions first-hand.
