You’ve been through the procurement process…
You’ve evaluated the bids…
You’ve selected your winning bidder…

Now you can sit back and relax?

In a word, no!

Good contract management is needed to ensure that when you get value for money in a procurement award you make sure that it happens when the contract is being delivered. And good contract management cannot be an afterthought.

But because procurement processes for public procurement contracts are sometimes lengthy and resource-intensive for an awarding body and conducted to tight deadlines, it is very easy for the pressures of the procurement process and sense of achievement at a successful contract award to lead to neglect of the contract management process. A good procurement award can be undermined by lack of attention to contract management.

How will it help you?
This workshop will show you what to do to create a robust contract management framework so you can manage public procurement contracts and how and when to do it in, including:

What awarding bodies should do while awarding a contract so that they can manage it effectively in the contract execution phase and how they should do it;
What awarding bodies should do during the contract execution phase to manage the contract effectively and how they should do it;
What resources, powers and skills are needed in the contract management team;
The impact of the rules on modification of contracts in the EU Public Procurement Directives (Directive 2014/24/EU, Directive 2014/25/EU and Directive 2014/23/EU) on contract management in practice.

We will use:

Presentations to update you on leading edge practice;
Case studies from works, services and supplies contracts to show how public procurement contracts are managed in practice;
Role play to enable you to reinforce your understanding.

We will also allow time for you to discuss specific issues arising in contracts that you are currently managing.

Who will benefit most?
The workshop will benefit officials from national and sub-national authorities and other public bodies in EU Member States and candidate countries and from EU institutions and agencies who are or are about to become responsible for managing complex procurement contracts. It should also be of value to auditors, private sector providers, professional advisers and academics.

Come to EIPA to find out from our experts and from your peers what to do to manage public contracts and how and when to do it
