Work and workplaces are crucial to creating sustainable innovation and growth. Inclusive and engaging workplaces provide staff with good quality jobs that utilise their skills and develop their talents effectively enabling these staff, in turn, to deliver high levels of performance and future innovation.

With the Europe 2020 strategy, workplace innovation now occupies an important place in EU innovation and competitiveness policy. In 2013 the European Commission launched EUWIN (the European Workplace Innovation Network) and started a large-scale movement to create more productive and healthier places to work.
What will you learn in this course

This interactive workshop introduces Workplace Innovation and is intended for participants of all levels who would like to learn how to improve performance and working lives by releasing the full knowledge, skill and creativity of people at every level.

Over two days, you will gain practical insights and actionable ideas condensed from the vast body of research and experience that exists in Europe. People leading change in different organisations also benefit enormously from exchanging ideas and experience of ‘what works’ (and what doesn’t), by sharing problems and solutions, and by acting as ‘critical friends’ to each other.

This seminar offers a unique opportunity to discover how a growing number of companies and public organisations are transforming their working practices and cultures in ways that lead to real improvements in productivity, performance, engagement and well-being. You will have a unique opportunity to assess workplace practices and culture in your organisation against some of the best cases in Europe, and to identify positive opportunities for innovation and improvement.

We will:

Examine the business case for ’workplace innovation’ as well as its impact on employee health and well-being.
Explore core workplace practices that lead to high performance and high quality of working life.
Identify international examples of good practice through short films and case studies.
Hear from practitioners about their workplace innovation journeys.
Enable participants to evaluate current workplace practices in their own organisations and identify priorities for change and improvement.
Provide opportunities for participants to share ideas and experiences with each other.
Access a rich database of learning resources.

Who is this course for?

You are working in the public sector at local, regional, national or EU level and would like to learn how to lead more effective teams and departments, improve efficiency and service quality, attract and retain the best talent, or transform workplace practices and culture. You wish to enhance your leadership skills and enhance your ability to drive effective and sustainable change, whether at team level or across complex organisations.

Above all, you are committed to innovation and improvement, creating a public sector organisation that is fit for the challenges of the 21st Century.
Course structure

The course duration is 2 days, in order to leave time for ample exercises and discussions.

You will also discover Fresh Thinking Labs, the international online and in person platform for workplace innovation. Participants gain complimentary membership, including access to online resources relevant to the programme, from 1 October 2019 to 31 January 2020.
