Presenter Mitja Decman Abstract With the advance of technologies, the way people live, work and learn changes. With the oversupply of information, available 24/7 within the reach of our hand, t. i. smartphone, can we still teach and learn the same way? Can technology be just an upgrade of existing teaching models, or can we innovate to a new and different one? The paper addresses the challenge of setting up an online flipped classroom based on latest advances in technology and teaching. Based on the existing theoretical and empirical research, directions for incorporating the flipped classroom into an online learning environment is suggested, especially focusing on the structure of the learning material and group activities, both set in online environment. The context is focused on social sciences, specifically on public administration courses. The challenges are addressed through the implementation of Moodle learning management system and other online learning and communication tools, using Moodle’s native and additional components and technologies. The technology use is linked to the predefined learning outcomes of courses, their topics and class activities where ICT tools are analyzed and selected to deliver the best results. The paper helps educators in public administration to set their courses in the online environment where flipped learning concepts of individual and group space are set in an online environment. Regarding the course learning goals and accompanying activities the list of appropriate online tools is suggested.
