Abstract	In this paper, we investigate the impact of digital feedbacks collected from the clients of the tax offices on the effectiveness of tax collection. We argue that besides direct feedback which can be used to administer efficiency-improving changes, this system creates an important indirect feedback by stressing the client-oriented approach of the tax offices, which improves taxpayers’ reciprocity and responsiveness to the tax requirements, and ultimately results in better tax discipline. We confirm this hypothesis using a unique dataset of feedback received and a bunch of control variables over the regions of the Russian Federation for 2017-2021. The instrumented estimate of the causal effect of the presence of feedback channels of about 0.17 % per one percent increase of feedback intensity by office. Implications of this indirect feedback for behavioural public administration and policy purposes are also discussed.
