Main theme of the conference: "Citizens' Engagement and Empowerment - The Era of Collaborative Innovation in Governance"
7 papers were presented in the frame of 2 working group sessions:
The Working Group 8: Non-Governmental Organisations in Central and Eastern Europe held two sessions at the 2021 Ljubljana NISPAcee conference, with six papers prepared by seven authors and co-authors.
All papers contributed to the understanding of the role and performance of NGO's in the region, with the first (physical) session focusing on the role of NGOs in public and political life and the second session addressing more diverse issues. This year, the work in our group focused on country-cases, with two papers focusing on Hungary, one on Poland, one on Moldova, one on Croatia and one on Romania. Thematically, we have discussed the role of NGOs in local elections in the context of ethical campaigning and limiting the prevalence of negative campaigns; the role of NGO representatives in local advisory boards; the developments of NGO-related regulations – their legal and policy environment; the role of NGOs in the implementation of the cohesion policy; and the social responsibility of student NGOs.
