Seminar „How to improve your paper"

For the fourth time, and based on participants‘ strong expression of interest, NISPAcee is offering a workshop on how to improve one's paper. This master class is designed for young scholars from the NISPA regions who have already written a paper and who want to improve on it. The Master Class is scheduled in such a way as to allow participants to work on their papers for the conference themselves just before the conference. The master class will take place in the conference venue – Corvinus University, before the official opening. The class is free of charge for participants.

The full papers accepted for the presentation at the conference should have been uploaded to the online record of the participant by April 10th, 2014

 

Master Class Schedule:

 

Venue: Corvinus University

 

Wednesday, 21 May, 09.30-12.00

 

The meeting will feature a general presentation by the workshop leader on what constitutes a good paper, as well as a discussion on how to improve the introduction section of one’s own paper.

 

Participants will after the first meeting with the workshop leader be expected to work on their own papers based on instruction of the leader.

 

Wednesday, 21 May, 15:00 – 19:00

 

The session will consist of individual meetings with the workshop leaders going through the improved texts on the introduction, one by one, discussing the changes made and the changes still necessary. These are 20 minute sessions each.

 

The Master Class will be conducted by Professor Dr. Michiel de Vries.

 

Michiel S. de Vries holds the chair in Public Administration at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, the governor's chair in Public Governance in Small Systems of Law at the University of Aruba, and is visiting professor at the Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic). He is president of IASIA, full member of the Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government of the Council of Europe. and member of the editorial board of numerous journals on Public Administration. His research concentrates on local government, policy evaluation, policy change and comparative public administration.
