CONCLUSIONS

Public administration is primarily taught in Armenia as a part of economic, political and juridical sciences in the university network. Prior to 1999, only the Armenia School of Public Administration trained specialists in public administration and local government. In 1999, two state institutes: the Yerevan State Institute of National Economy and the Armenian State Polytechnic University created the Faculty of Public and Municipal Administration in cooperation with private partners. The content of the faculty’s departments and programs are currently being developed.

Training personnel in public administration and creating appropriate programmes are of great importance in the current phase of state building. Only one public administration program exists at present, but others will be created in the near future.

European and comparative public administration courses are yet not independent subjects, but as Armenia continues to integrate into Europe, these courses will become increasingly common.
