POSITIONING ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN RELATION TO THE DISCIPLINES TO WHICH THEY ARE MOST CLOSELY RELATED

Armenian School of Public Administration

ASPA’s public administration program includes political science, law, economics and organisational aspects of public administration. The basic subjects are: the organisation of public administration, administration theory, decision-making processes, personnel management, public policy, administrative law, public finance, budgetary processes, constitutional law, and public regulation of the economy.

Several departments contribute to the program. Subjects offered by the departments of political science and law are taught in the first semester (first year), economics in the second semester, and subjects of the Department of Public Administration are taught during the third semester (second year). After each semester, students are expected to hold an internship. The second semester of the second year is devoted to the longest internship and preparing for final examinations.

Yerevan State University

Public administration is taught as a part of political science, economics and law in Yerevan State University. The main subjects are: administrative law, comparative administrative law of foreign countries, the political system of the Republic of Armenia, authority, law and policy, political regimes, comparative analysis, government economic regulations, principles of management and budgeting.

American University of Armenia

The following subjects are taught in the Graduate School of Political Science and International Affairs: public administration, comparative public policy, public finance and budgeting, public personnel administration, organisational behaviour, leadership and decision-making and comparative development administration in Armenia.

Yerevan State Institute for the National Economy

The following subjects are taught in the Faculty of Management: administrative theory, organisational theory, public and municipal administration, financial management, organisation of administrative decision-making processes, personnel management and strategic management. The courses of the program in Public and Municipal Administration are not yet completely designed.
