COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE CONTENTS OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMMES
There are several types of university degree programmes in public administration:
- degrees accorded for short-term programmes at the college level, designed to “produce” civil servants for the local authorities;
- BA degrees: four-year programmes in public administration;
- MA programmes: one or two-year graduate programmes designed to educate in-service personnel and those at supervisory levels.
Admission requirements are almost the same for all undergraduate programmes: a baccalaureate diploma is needed for the candidate to sit for an entrance exam. Admissions exams differ in content from university to university but primarily focus on history, Romanian language, aptitude tests, etc. For admission to graduate programmes, a university diploma is needed (a BA in any field; a public administration focus or degree is not required).
