 Local Travel in Prague

Arriving to Prague

-By Plane
There is a bus station in front of the airport terminal. Bus no. 119 will take you to station "Nádraží Veleslavín”, where you can swap for subway nearby (50m walk). From there, subway line A (green line, direction Depo Hostivař) will take you to the city center. Possible connections from the city center are available from stations Můstek (line B/ yellow) or Muzeum (line C/ red).

-By Train
The main train station in Prague is located at "Hlavní Nádraží” (subway line C).

-By Bus
The main bus station is at Florenc  (subway line B and C).
Getting around Prague

Another possibility is the taxi transportation. The rates for taxi rides in Prague are calculated using the fare per one kilometer + entry fee: average fare per one kilometer is 24 CZK (≃ 0.92 eur).
Apps such as Modrý Anděl, Liftago and even Uber are also available.
(For ordering by phone you can use these numbers: AAA Radiotaxi - tel. 00 420 14 0 14 or 00 420 222 333 222; City Taxi - tel. 00 420 257 257 257; Profi Taxi - tel. 00 420 14 0 15)

Information on public transport and a map available HERE. You can check the additional links for trams and buses in the bottom of the page or use Google Maps for various routes. More information is also available at Info centres around Prague, which are located at some metro stations, city hall and even airport.

Public Transport Tickets

Tickets are standardized so that they can be used on either public transport mean (tram, bus, metro) and are available at Info centres and ticket machines. The price for a ticket is as follows:
90 min = 32 CZK (≃ 1.23 eur)
30 min = 24 CZK (≃ 0.92 eur)
1 day (24h) = 110 CZK (≃ 4.23 eur)
3 days (72h) = 310 CZK (≃ 11.93 eur).
When transporting  luggage with dimensions of 25 × 45 × 70 cm or more, an additional luggage ticket is required (price CZK 16, ≃ 0.62 eur).
The time and zone validity of the ticket for the luggage is the same as the time and zone validity of the ticket of the passenger who carries the luggage, with a maximum validity of 300 minutes.

Note
The currency used in the Czech Republic is the Czech koruna (1 EUR ≃ 26 CZK, as of November 2018). Please be careful where you exchange money (check the rate and commission)!

Remember keeping the tickets on you until the ride is over or, in the case of metro transportation, until you reach the surface area (sometimes the controllers are checking the validity of the tickets at the exits).
