Abstract

The paper will analyse the recent Hungarian political processes from the point of view of integrity. Many believe that a moral crisis has emerged in Hungary. It is true, that this poltical conflict can not be solved by constitutional means, because this situation is a subject of ethics.

The paper will shed light on the importance of ethical rules in politics, such as promises in electional champaigns, means of competition with other parties, style of communication with electors, repect of constitutional rules, relationship with the media, ways of negotiation with interest groups, etc.

Conclusions will be drawn if requirements of integrity can be enforced by any means, and what kind of unwanted effects will take place when morality lacks in the practice of the political elite. The question is why ethics have, or have not developed in certain countries, and what is the lesson of these tendencies.
