In 1999, at the EGPA conference, Prof. Huib de Jong, dean of the University of Twente's Public Administration Faculty, initiated a discussion on establishing quality standards and accreditation for European public administration programs. The idea resonated with attendees, and with support from EGPA and NISPAcee, an association under Dutch law was formed: the European Association for Public Administration Accreditation (established December 13, 1999), with Geert Bouckaert as the first chairman.
The UN Public Administration Network (UNPAN) is a powerful internet-based network for the UN Member States for the exchange of information and experience in public administration. UNPAN has over 30 Partner institutions including NISPAcee.
Juraj Nemec, member of the UN CEPA, NISPAcee Steering Committee member and Former NISPAcee President, particiated in the meeting and represented NISPAcee at the meeting.
The online EAPAA (European Association for Public Administration Accreditation) Board meeting was held on March 18, 2024.
Gyorgy Hajnal, Corvinus University, Hungary, Chair of EAPAA (former NISPAcee President) chaired the session. NISPAcee Board members Juraj Nemec, NISPAcee Steering Committee member and Ludmila Gajdosova, NISPAcee Executive Director, participated in the meeting.

NISPAcee’s annual conferences not only are interesting for public-administration researchers, but also for those who are (more) involved in public-administration teaching (the reason of existence of most, if not all, NISPAcee members)

I am not afraid to say that NISPAcee is one such framework, which for a long period, on many occasions together with the United Nations Department of Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM), relentlessly worked to help enhance the role, prestige, performance and professionalism of the public service

Mzia was very much charmed by the warm and friendly atmosphere in NISPAcee, and she gained many friends during her travels and work for the Association. She had a real sense of being a member of a very large family, and I would like to underline this important achievement of NISPAcee. Her experience from NISPAcee was widely applied in Georgia

IIAS and NISPAcee address the challenges of public administration in different geographic regions and environments, but both are striving to make a contribution for improving public administration; to create a forum where academics and practitioners meet and discuss the emerging problems to find common solutions

To my mind, the core NISPAcee activities of the very greatest value are: the annual conferences; other specialised conferences and workshops, mainly TEDs; the publications, especially the Journal; and the way in which relationships with partners from outside our region are maintained

NISPAcee has modelled in itself the kinds of success and contributions to public service that it is seeking to further in its members. It has built strong and motivational social bonds among leaders in public-service education and broken down regional barriers to cooperation. It has planted the seeds for good scholarship and significantly advanced the quality of policy analysis in the region.

That is why I would like to wish NISPAcee to continue being a platform for creating international friendships between its members.
