As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform the functions and objectives of public administrations, it has become increasingly critical for senior officials, project managers, and decision makers to follow, and react to, and anticipate advancements in AI development and deployment.

This two-day intensive course is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and tools to navigate a complex system of digital policy. This includes designing and delivering strategies for introducing AI within the public sector, as well as developing the foresight and vision to prepare for a future fit for trustworthy AI.

As AI technologies become more ubiquitous in public life, it is essential that ethical, social and legal considerations are at the forefront of AI development, deployment, and regulation. Following an intensive period of digital policy enactment, public officials must begin the transition into implementation, compliance and monitoring to maximise and spread the benefits of AI innovative while mitigating its harms and risks.

What will you learn:

Understand the latest advancements in AI developments and their implications for public administrations in the upcoming years
Gain a comprehensive overview of existing AI regulations at the national and EU levels, including key legal principles and requirements, and their interplay.
Confidently navigate recent developments in AI regulation, including proposed legislation, regulatory initiatives, and international standards, to be able to produce and implement sustainable and effective strategic plans.
Develop unique and tailored strategies and best practices for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with AI implementation in the public sector.
Refer to and implement existing ethical frameworks, risk and impact assessments, and good practices principles guiding the responsible use of AI within public administrations, including transparency, accountability, fairness, and inclusivity.
Draw knowledge from AI use cases to derive practical insights from real-world environments, enabling participants to make informed decisions and effectively manage AI projects within the public sector.
