3rd CEE-Loc Conference - Local Government Studies in Central and Eastern Europe

The first CEE–Loc Seminar was held in Wroclaw (Poland) in September 2023, followed by the second CEE–Loc Conference, which took place in Zagreb (Croatia) in September 2024. As these two events were very successful and brought together researchers of local government studies all around Europe, we are pleased to continue this tradition with the organisation of the 3rd CEE–Loc Conference 2025, which will take place on 25 and 26 September 2025 in Budapest (Hungary).
The organisers of the conference are the Corvinus University of Budapest, the HUN-REN Centre for Social Sciences and the Hungarian Political Science Association.
The idea of the conference is to gather a community of researchers from Central and Eastern Europe interested in local government studies and to discuss a limited number of research papers examining different dimensions of local government activities, policies or politics in our region. Previous events have presented research findings from a variety of fields. Continuing this tradition, we invite research contributions from the fields of economics, geography, public administration, political science, legal or sociological analysis.
The aim of the organising committee is to select a limited number of high-quality indepth abstracts (300–500 words), providing sufficient space for detailed presentations and time for discussion. Each abstract should include the formulation of the research question(s), hypothesis, and a brief description of the empirical strategy (methodology).
All participants are also required to submit a full paper prior to the conference (even if it is a draft version) so that the research presented can be discussed more thoroughly and to obtain high quality feedback from other colleagues.
Important deadlines:
- 28 February 2025: Deadline for submission of abstracts (300-500 words, by e-mail to [email protected])
- 10 March 2025: Information about the decisions on abstracts approval
- 6 June 2025: Conference fee payment (120 EUR, PhD students: 80 EUR)
- 30 August 2025: Deadline for submission of full papers
