The WG on Fiscal Policy focuses on fiscal policy, public
finance and public financial management issues. Originally two tracks were
announced for this conference, i.e. a general track: East and West: Twenty Years of
Development: Fiscal Policy and Public Finance and a specialised track: Contracting and outsourcing in the public
sector, but a significant
number of authors responded to the current major issue, i.e., the impact of
the economic crisis on public finance and the sustainability of fiscal policy,
which means that there is now a special section dedicated to these papers.
Regardless of the topic area, the papers deal, to a similar extent, with both
central and local government issues and apply various methodological
approaches: country case studies, comparative papers and papers applying modern
econometric methods.
