Presenter Ola Majthoub Abstract Today, the number of refugees around the globe has reached 26 million, half of them are children. Additionally, 85% of those refugees are hosted in developing countries. In 2019, the highest number of refugees came from Syria. More than eight years have passed since Syrian refugees began to flee in big groups to neighbouring countries to seek refuge. During the past period their presence was mainly dealt with through providing humanitarian care and assistance. This classical international intervention has arguably failed in keeping up with their rising needs and it specifically fails to deal with youth. for that reason, this presentation focuses on Syrian refugee youth from age of 15-24 who are going through a transition period from school to work and it will present some recommendations for a more development-oriented crisis response, which can decrease the dependency of young refugees on international assistance and make them more resilient.
