ICARUS meeting

Ljubljana, Slovenia

September 28-29, 2012

The idea to establish ICARUS – International Consortium for Administration Research and University Studies – as a consortium of 7 universities and NISPAcee emerged in early 2012. At the NISPAcee conference in Ohrid, Macedonia in May 2012, the first version of the Memorandum of Understanding, in order to facilitate international academic exchange, develop academic and scientific relationships, and support collaborative research activities was signed.

Last weekend (September 28-29, 2012), the consortium met for the first time in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Representatives from all consortium members participated in this meeting - Radboud University Nijmegen, Varna Free University, Corvinus University of Budapest, University of Ljubljana, Tallinn University of Technology, Babes Bolyai University, The Florida International University Board of Trustees and NISPAcee.

During the meeting the consortium members discussed possible areas for future cooperation – collaboration on further development and execution of master programmes (exchange of visiting professors, exchange of students, external examination of students’ assignments etc....), research related cooperation, activities and projects, possible funding schemes and financial support, administrative framework and support. Initial ideas for several joint activities, courses and projects were developed. The working teams will continue to work on these ideas in the coming months.

The next consortium meeting will take place next May at the NISPAcee conference in Belgrade, Serbia.
