Get prepared! By 2030, the EU will have to get at least 32% of its energy from renewable sources and reach an energy efficiency headline target of 32.5%. The new targets are set out in the Clean Energy Package recently concluded by the co-legislators. The revised Renewable energy Directive, the revised Energy Efficiency Directive as well as the Regulation on a Governance for the Energy Union have already entered into force[1]. The provisions for the new electricity market design are expected to be published in the Official Journal this summer. As part of this new Energy Union governance, all EU Member States have submitted their draft national energy and climate plans to the Commission with the next step being recommendations by the Commission. These plans will form the national pledges towards the binding EU target for renewables.

Get informed! This seminar focuses on informing participants about the new Renewable energy directive (2018/2001) and the parts that are relevant for renewables in the Governance Regulation and market design.

Get the skills to achieve the objectives! This training will get the participants to have an overview of the Clean Energy Package and how renewable energy legislation will drive the green transition in Europe.

Don´t forget about the funds! The Clean Energy Package is not only about legislative action, but also an enabling framework. That also includes funding. Therefore, participants will know more on what funding opportunities exist for renewables in EU/EEA funds.

And how to implement it in practice! Smart cities and our green transition will be illustrated with the cases/examples of Barcelona and Norway.
How will it help you?

This seminar is a combination of lectures and debates. First, it explains the EU new Clean Energy package and presents the new changes from a legal perspective. Debates will allow participants to express doubts and ask specific questions on their own case to highly-qualified experts. Finally, as this seminar is open to stakeholders from various background, it allows discussion from different perspectives.
Who will benefit most?

Target groups are representatives of national energy authorities. In accordance with the key areas for action identified in the new directive, stakeholders in the electricity sector, heating and cooling sector, and transport sector are also vividly encouraged to join this seminar. Representatives managing energy funds are encouraged to take this course to get a whole picture of how the money will be invested.

Moreover, public relation officers involved in projects related to energy are invited to get informed about the new package to later communicate efficiently the new directive to citizens.

The seminar is open also to the private market and NGOs wishing to increase their understanding of the legislation.
After-course material

To help you remember your learning, participants will be provided with the slides and with materials used in the seminar.
