Panel on Innovation and Growth in a Smart Public Sector – Grassroots Best Practice

Place: 26th NISPAcee Annual Conference, Iasi, Romania
Date:  May 24-26, 2018

Chairs:
Diana - Camelia Iancu, National School of Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest, Romania
Adriana Circiumaru, National Agency of Civil Servants, Bucharest, Romania

The Panel aimed at attracting practitioners of public administration and presented the lessons learned in the field, whilst implementing projects addressing innovation and growth in the public sector. It built on the fruitful partnership of the National Agency for Civil Servants in Romania with the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration and managed to attract seven submissions, all representing project reports of central and local public organisations. Five of these submissions were delivered in one session during the Panel organised in Iași, namely:

1.    Preparing Local Governments for Data Protection Reform in Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Romania and Slovakia.
2.    Social Inclusion for Children through Education.
3.    Developing Quality and Cost Standards for Public Services in Romania.
4.    Erasmus+ projects in Romanian Universities.
5.    People from Romania decide! Assessing Citizens’ Satisfaction and their Involvement in the decisional process.

Following the discussions of the presentations, as well as the preparation for the session, the convenors identified several opportunities that might be considered for future similar events.
