Call for Papers 2013
The Working Group focuses on public finance. In order to better reflect the issues that WG members deal with, the WG changed its name to "Public Finance and Public Financial Management”.
The WG invites original research papers within two main tracks:
1. General track: any paper focusing on public finance and public financial management is welcome.
2. Specialised track: Quantitative methods and public finance research.
For the general track, authors are invited to submit original research papers, i.e. papers presenting the results of their own research. We also welcome high quality theoretical studies, but empirical papers providing concrete data and their analysis are our main focus. The form of the paper is quite open, e.g. single or multiple case studies, comparative papers, survey results or papers applying some statistical analysis.
For the special track, papers discussing the role of quantitative methods in public finance research are welcome. The form of the paper is again open, but we expect the contents to encourage discussion on how to use quantitative methods in a proper academic manner. We are primarily interested in public finance, not econometrics, in that we do not wish to get into an in-depth description of the undertaken quantitative analysis itself, but prefer to discuss the benefits or limitations application of these methods in the area of public finance and public financial management.
The paper selection will be based on the submitted abstracts, which have to clearly define the objectives and research questions(i.e. what the researcher wants to find) and to carefully describe the research design and methods (i.e. what the researcher will actually do). Thus, there need not be a literature review in the abstract. The suggested length is between 100-250 words.
Abstracts which do not contain this basic information will be, at best, accepted conditionally and the authors will be asked to complete it.
