Abstract

The present paper aims to determine how Public Administration programmes fit the Public Administration labour market needs by assessing a series of education and research indicators in universities that provide training in this field. It then compares the curricula and projected competences of graduates to civil servant recruitment criteria. The study makes use of a methodology already piloted for the Political Science and Sociology domains and adds a complementary public administration labor market analysis. The results are compared with the 2011 official Ministry of Education ranking for Public Administration departments in Romanian Universities in order to discuss the prospects for performance-measuring tools in Romanian AP higher education more generally. This is the first part of a more ambitious research project that intend analyse the supply side of the market, meaning the PA higher education programmes.
